At the turn of the century, Y2K, there was a need for good Les Paul replacement parts. In 2000 Pigtail Music was started by Steve Rowen. Steve was a go-to guy when it came to knowing about vintage guitars and their hardware (plus he was a pro guitarist). After years in the trenches of the US tool & die industry and the manufacturing world, he turned his talents to the things he loved—guitars—designing, fabricating, machining, and guitar hardware; he was an old-school craftsman expert in all areas of metallurgy, die-making, tooling, machining, and CNC work. His first designs were the Pigtail Winder multi-tool, a 10-tool repair tool for all working musicians and techs.
After that he began working on the Pigtail Intonatable Guitar bridge as well as vintage replica replacement guitar hardware. When Steve died of a sudden heart attack, August 31,2009, his wife, Pam, took over the business. She had worked alongside him from the inception of the business-delivering molds to vendors, machining parts, assembling bridges, invoicing and shipping. She is indebted to the various guitar builders that came to her aide in tutoring heron the specifics of each product, thus enabling the business to keep going with the goal of continuing in it s endeavor to achieve the highest quality guitar hardware on the market
